I wanted to share a recent lighting setup for a recent multi-camera corporate shoot. We had six actors and a educator doing role-playing scenarios over the course of two days. The location was a suite at a hotel that offered a reasonable amount of room to work with. However, even with a skeleton crew of 2 cameramen, 1 producer, 1 director, a makeup artist and six actors, we needed every square foot we could get. Furniture was moved and removed depending on the scene, but it all worked out well in the end.
Here is the lighting setup
. The end results can be seen below. We used our Photoflex 500W softbox as our key with a 42″ reflector very close to the talent’s face for an approximate 2:1 lighting ratio. A hair light aimed just between the shoulder blades and snooted down added a bit of separation. The hairlight was dialed down about 50 or 60% so as to blend in. The background was dressed up slightly with props and a 350W fresnel focused through a handmade gobo, of which I have a few abstract designs.
Footage was captured on a Canon 7D DSLR with a 50mm at approximately f3.5
